Devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, is one of the most widely practiced and well-known Catholic devotions. The heart of Jesus is a symbol of God's boundless and passionate love for humanity. This devotion is also followed by High-Church Anglicans, Lutherans and some Western Rite Orthodox.
The devotion is especially concerned with the long-suffering love and compassion of the heart of Christ towards humanity. Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque learned the devotion from Jesus during a series of apparitions between 1673 and 1675. The devotion continues in our times.
