Our Lady of Perpetual Help is one of the most beloved devotions to The Blessed Virgin.
The title and icon is associated with a Marian apparition.
Since 1499 the original icon is housed in Rome in the Church of St. Alphonsus.
Pope Pius IX granted the image and the title canonical status.
In the Eastern Church, the image is known as the Virgin Theotokos of the Passion. This title recognizes her great suffering at withessing the suffering of Jesus during her passion.
The feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is June 27.
